Why holidays make you lose your mind…metaphorically speaking

‘Have you lost your mind?’ was one of the poignant comments my mother would say to me as a child when I did something wrong and many decades later, I say the same. Prominently this is referring to getting sunburnt to a crisp on the first day of the Summer Vacay. And Vacays are for blue skies, bikinis and bathing; it’s a BBB in Byron Bay.

Seems like I have lost my mind.

Lost the ability to lather the sunscreen onto all areas of my body before running at Olympic speed diving into the cool waters of the Pacific Ocean. I know I have a beach obsession.

Lost the ability to think of the past year and all the bullshit that went with it.

Lost the ability to stress over things that don’t matter

Lost the ability to repeat what didn’t work.

Clearly, that did not resonate with applying sunscreen!

And holidays are the time for re-ignition. So, in essence, yes, I have lost my mind, the old mind.

From today I’ll eventually write the 2022 manifesto, hopefully, finish sometime by February. I’ll look out at the swarms of people on the beach and thank the higher energy that we are healthy and happy and be present in the moment. My friends will either roll their eyes or convince me to completely go vegan, my kids will secretly love my 80s Spotify playlist and I’ll look to hubby as his salt and pepper complexion makes him more handsome.

A little late for the first of the 2022 blogs, but I seem to have lost my mind to 2021.
