About

Hello, I’m Sylvia, a self-described ‘observer of human behaviour,’ a writer, marketeer, strategist and brand communicator who is committed to the concept that everything that we do is tied to a story we want to be told. I’ve spent most of my working career conceptualising creative storytelling – and when strategy and storytelling align, authentic communications flow.

I’m a knowledgeable direct language writer with experience in long-form content to educate, influence, and persuade the audience. With so much information available in our current environment, my focus is on empowering clients to communicate in a way that stays true to their voices.

My experience is strong in healthcare, government, food and finance with a nod to the avid traveller. As a lover of learning, my qualifications include a BA in English, a Diploma in Strategic Marketing, Diploma in Visual Communications and am currently working on my master’s in strategic communications.

On the flip side, I also write novels and short stories. And as an insight into how I see the world, I love blogging about what’s happening in society and culture from a witty perspective. Have a read if you want to get to know me a little bit better, we may just be a great fit!

When I’m not writing to-do lists or chasing the dog or patting the cat, I write a weekly column ‘Looking for Lilly’ over on Substack, where I share sharp observations, lessons learned and musings on navigating (mid)life. Otherwise, you’ll find me watching French cinema, dipping my toes in the ocean while dreaming of the next blue-sky getaway.

Thanks for reading and let’s take a swim together.

My approach

It’s a simple, five step process when working with me.

  1. Let’s schedule a no obligation 20-minute discovery call. Here we can discuss your goals, timelines and whether there’s a mutual fit. It’s a two-way conversation, so I’ll be asking questions to understand your project and your needs.

  2. If you feel like I’m the person for this project, I’ll ask you to complete a comprehensive brief to provide essential context and requirements.

  3. I’ll prepare a proposal that includes estimated costs, timeline and deliverables.

  4. We’d need to align on scope and process, agree how we’ll work together.

  5. Then, if you’re satisfied, we’ll formalise the working relationship and commence on the work.

Simple.
